Tabuchi Electric Residential Solar Inverters meet NEC 2017 Rapid Shutdown Requirements ahead of enforcement with NEP PV Guard Rapid Shutdown Device
Tabuchi residential and commercial inverters compatible with NEP panel-level PV Guard Rapid Shutdown Device ahead of NEC 2017 compliance requirements.
San Jose, California – December 3, 2018 - Tabuchi Electric Co., LTD. (Tabuchi) announced today that all of the company’s residential hybrid solar inverters and commercial string solar inverters are compatible with the Northern Electric and Power (NEP) PV Guard, a panel-level rapid shutdown device. The combined system of Tabuchi inverters and NEP PVG complies with the NEC 2017, Article 690.12 rapid shutdown system requirement.
NEC 2017, Article 690.12 specifies that PV system circuits installed on or in a building must include a rapid shutdown function. Specifically worded labels must also by placed no more than 1 meter (3 ft.) from the rapid shutdown switch. This article was updated to reduce the risk of shock hazard by first responders at locations with PV system installations.
In addition to panel-level rapid shutdown required by the latest NEC code, the Tabuchi and NEP solution provides panel-level monitoring for an additional level of safety and performance enhancement. Panel-level monitoring not only provides panel by panel real-time observation and comparison, but more importantly, simplifies trouble shooting for installers and greatly reduces maintenance costs.
The combined package of Tabuchi inverters and NEP PVG is now commercially available.
